I can't thank you enough.

One of the things I've been struck with as I was gathering donations for my project was how many people's lives have been touched by cancer. And maybe because of that, so many people have been willing to help. Thanks to everyone for supporting my project, whether it's through encouragement, advice, spreading the word, advertising, loaning supplies, In-kind and monetary donations.
Special thanks for your generous monetary donations this week to: Dennis and Jean Nosek (my grandparents), Elburn Lions Club, Marjorie and Chet Cybulski, Bob Jass Chevrolet, Sal Occhipinti, Joy and Mike Brown, Charlene and Mark Thompson, The Home DepotAlice's Place, and Jewel-Osco
Thanks to the sponsors that have offered In-kind donations this week: True Knack Graphics, Scott Kurth, Keson, and Race Time, Inc.
Thanks to BSN SPORTS for working with me on the race T-shirts. Thanks to Running Awards and Apparel for helping me with the race medals.
Finally, thank you to Jean Lundsteen, Connie Schweitzer, Coach Clarey, David Rohlman, Coach Bieritz, Sheila Abano, and my Mom, for all the support, advice, and encouragement you've given me throughout this project.
I couldn't organize this project without all of you. I thank you sincerely.

Be on the lookout...

...for these cool yard signs around town next week! Thank you so much to True Knack Graphics for sponsoring the Flashlight 5K!

Riding for Megan!

Just a few days ago, the riders for War on Wheels honored Megan! Every day they ride for a different group of kids. They are riding 2,499 miles from Los Angeles, California to Chicago over the course of 5 weeks! I am definitely going to the Celebration to welcome them home on Sunday, June 2! (More information about that on Cal's Angels Facebook page.)

Cal's Angels War on Wheels

Choosing an Eagle project is a big decision for any Scout. And choosing the beneficiary for your project is just as important. I had learned of Cal's Angels when they had done an awareness program at my school. After my friend, Megan, was diagnosed with cancer, I knew that I wanted to raise awareness about childhood cancer. When i visited their website with my mom, I realized that I had just found my beneficiary. They do so much good for kids and their families that need it. Please watch this short video on their War on Wheels Ride. It is truly inspiring. And this is just one example of the good work that Cal's Angels does on behalf of pediatric cancer.

Go Grey in May!

Go Grey In May! You may have seen on Facebook that some friends are helping to raise more awareness for Brain and Central Nervous System Tumors during the month of May. Since my project's goal is to raise awareness for the cause of fighting children's cancer, and to encourage people to support groups like Cal's Angels, I thought I would take part in "Go Grey In May!" too!
As you know, my friend, Megan Sporny, is fighting glioma cancer that was found in a tumor in her spine last October. I am so proud of her that during her fight, she is helping others in their fight. Not only is Megan helping to raise awareness for children's cancer by being the spotlight child for the Flashlight 5K, but she is also the patient champion for the Run for Gus 5K supporting Lurie Children's Hospital Brain Tumor Program. I am so proud of my friend, Megan, and admire her so much.
